About the event

The time has come for the 2nd installment of the Boonies Club. For this version of the journey we will be heading to the North Island to Pye Lake.

The site is another unmanaged BC Rec Site. It is first come first serve. It takes approximately an hour from Campbell River, the last 20 mins are on the logging road. Much like the last location the sites have picnic tables and firepits, but not much else. I believe there are 15 sites so there should be room for everyone. As before, the Rec Sites are first come - first serve but I don't anticipate there will be many people camping this late in the year, so we should have the place mostly to ourselves.

I am hoping the firebans will be lifted by then so we can collect some firewood and have fires. Anyone coming should be prepared for the possibility of rain, so bring a tarp for your tent and a rain jacket at the very least. The lake is small enough to paddle around and explore, so bring a kayak, SUP or canoe if you have one.

Directions:

-Leave Campbell River and head N on highway BC-19

-after ~40km turn R onto Rock Bay N Forest Service Rd

-after 10.9km make a sharp R turn onto Pye Lake E Rd.

-about 4km later the road dead ends into the Rec Site on Pye Lake
